Air Malta is a Maltese airline company based in Luqa, Malta International Airport. It operates flights to 36 destinations in Europe and North Africa. Air Malta was founded in 1973 by the decree of Maltese parliament and has operated flights since 1974. The company is in partnership with Lufthansa which performs technical maintenance in Malta International Airport. Air Malta is the owner of of Medavia shares, the latter operating flights in Libya.
